Good show guys. While I agree DVD sales and rentals will go down in 2009, I do not think they will go down in one category and that is Blu-Ray sales. While I don’t think Blu-Ray has a more than a 5-8 year shelf life, there is no really good way (legally) to receive 1080p content online.

So next Christmas I predict I will receive many Blu-Ray DVD presents especially now that Criterion Collection has started releasing them.

Thoughts about Boxee: While the idea of Hulu on my AppleTV sounds good, I thought the quality of the picture on my LCD was hard to watch unless I picked on of the very few 720p shows. For Boxee to take off they will have to rely on networks allowing HD content, a distributor like Hulu to distribute it and advertisers to continue to advertise on it. If I were investing in Boxee, that sure sounds like a lot of external things to have to rely on. Also, as soon as Boxee were to take off, what would stop Apple from squashing it with advertised filled content like Hulu. Apple would own the set-top boxes and the popular distribution channel (iTunes). I’d be very careful about investing in Boxee.
